DIY Garage Door Insulation

It's that time of year! To remember all the projects you meant to do, but only remember once it's too cold outside! I do it too!

A Quick DIY project, that can easily be done inside your garage, is to insulate the garage doors. It took about an hour for me to do my nice old garage doors, but was a lot cheaper than buying new ones. And still looks pretty good too!

Here's the kit I bought from Lowe's that worked out for me, $60 per door and the instructions are pretty straight forward.  Be prepared to clean up foam from everywhere when you're done!

And the finished product: (I think it turned out looking pretty good for some doors that are decades old. It seems to have helped with the cold in the garage as well)Image title

The backs of the foam have some lines scored in them to allow you to bend them in place. You'll have to cut thinner pieces to slide into edges of the door as well which is what causes the mess. A longer, sharp knife makes it easier to cut, but a box cutter will work just fine.
